The Commonwealth was established in 1946. It is an organization of 52 nations. Its headquarters is located in London. The Commonwealth represents 2.4 billion of the worlds and it includes both advanced as well as developing countries. Thirty of its members are small nations, many of which  are  island nations.

Member countries are supported by a network of more than 80 intergovernmental, civil societies, cultural and professional organizations. Rwanda was the last country to join the Commonwealth. It joined the Commonwealth in 2009.
