Language is the medium through which we express our thought. Innumerable languages and dialects are spoken across the world. Some of the major languages of the world are as follows:

  1. Mandarin language

Everyone thinks that English and Spanish are the most spoken language in the world, but this is not true. Indeed, the number of people who speak English is much lower than the Mandarin language of China. If there is talk of total data, then this more than a billion people speak this language.

The English language has got its hold in the whole world. It is language spreading knowledge of science and technology throughout the world. English is spoken in America, Australia and the UK. In fact it is used by almost 470 million people all over the world. It is the world’s third most spoken languages.

This language comes in fourth place among the most spoken languages ​​in the world. Speakers of this language are around 300 millions. This language has adopted majority of world from Sanskrit and Urdu.  Even after the British contact this language has adopted a good chunk of word from the English language.

  1. Russian language

Although Russia is the largest country in terms of area, Russia’s population is 14.3 million. But Russian language is also spoken in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. Thus , around 200 millions people across the world speak Russian language.

Bengali is one of the most widely spoken languages of India. Bengali is also spoken in UK, the European Republic, the number of people who speak this language is around 189 million, and this language falls to seventh place in this list.

  1. Portuguese Language

This language is most commonly spoken in Portugal. This language is spoken by around 203 million people all over the world. Apart from Portugal, this language is spoken in countries like Brazil, Angola, Venezuela, and Mozambique. This language is the eighth place in this list.

  1. Malay Indonesian language

The Malay language is the most spoken in the ASEAN countries located in the south east of India. This language is spoken mainly in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei.

This language is spoken by 76 million people all over the world.  This language is most commonly spoken in France, Belgium, Canada, and Cameroon
