Dr. Rajiv Kumar

With the resignation of Arvind Panagariya from the post vice-chairman of NITI Aayog, renowned economist and author Dr. Rajiv Kumar has been appointed as the new vice- chairman of NITI Aayog.  He will take over the charge from the 1st of September, 2017 as Arvind Panagariya is on one month’s notice period.  Dr. Kumar has vast experience in the field of economics.  He has been associated with the FICCI, CII, Asian Development Bank, ICRIER (Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations). Rajiv Kumar has served as Chief Economist of the CII and has held senior positions in the Asian Development Bank. He was a member of the National Security Advisory Board between 2006 to 2008.  Dr. Rajiv Kumar is member of board of several national and international organization. Dr. Kumar is a Ph.D  from Lucknow University and D. Phill in economics from Oxford University.  He has authored several books on economics.  Dr. Kumar is a senior fellow in the Center for Policy Research.

Kumar is also the Chancellor of the Gokhale Institute of Economics and Politics. Apart from all this he has also set up the non-profit organisation ‘Paheli India Foundation’, which performs policy based research and analysis work.
