RULES OF SUCCESS SERIES

  VI. GETTING RID OF PAST

We mostly live in the future or the past without understanding the fact that we are losing our very active and vibrant present.   Thinking of the time that has gone is waste of time. Likewise daydreaming is also a waste of time.  You need to be active, vigil, and smart. Living with the pain of the past cannot make you happy. One should make a self-commitment that what has happened is not now under control and he must try to move on. Make a conscious effort and learn a ‘let it go’ attitude.  It will take you to another world that will be stress-free.

We also worry a lot about the future and ruin precious time in thinking about what will happen in the future. What we will do today is going to become tomorrow’s assets. So in this manner, you are creating your present as well as future together. If you have very bitter experiences you should learn to forgive the people and circumstances and try to accept them as they were because it is beyond your control to rectify or modify them.

VII. AVOIDING PROCRASTINATION

Never postpone your work for tomorrow as tomorrow will never come.  Some people have this bad habit of delaying things.  They live in a cozy world and spin the palace of dreams.  When the hard reality comes they become defensive and inactive and start procrastination.  People make lame excuses and harm themselves by adopting a procrastinating attitude. Delaying things means delaying success. It is sheer foolishness to attribute the procrastination to perfectionism. In fact, the procrastinators make lame excuses and avoid reality. They may be of the view that the task is less appealing, less urgent, or intimidating.
